The tapered profile allows jewelers to transition seamlessly between broad cavity bottoms and converging sidewalls without gouging or faceting the workpiece. It glides steadily through soft precious metals—such as yellow gold and silver—as well as copper, brass, and related soft alloys without tool chatter or metal dragging.
