This unglazed ceramic dish is used as a receptacle to make soldering flux with a borax cone and water.
How to use: Simply wet the dish by pouring water in and tipping away the excess and then rub your borax cone in a circular motion with some downward pressure. The rough surface of the dish will grind off a little of the borax and it will mix with the water in the dampened dish to a good paste consistency ready to be painted onto your jewellery pieces prior to soldering, ensuring that your solder flows where it should.
The borax dish should always be clean, any foreign substance mixed with the flux may effect the soldering process.
The paste should be of a consistency enabling it to be applied to jewellery pieces with a flux brush, ensuring solder flows where it should.
